Hey, can anyone find pictures of these somewhere so we can take a look at them all?

I had to go with the simple look of the Colt .45's. As fun as the rainbow uniforms are now to marvel at, when they were donning them everyday it got to be quite an eyesore. It's too bad Oscar Gamble never played for them. Could you imagine him in a rainbow uniform?

If you go to http://www.astrosdaily.com/ and scroll down to the bottom right hand corner there is a link that says "baseball card gallery". Click on that and it will show you the cards for every player every year of the Astros' existence. Not only is it fun to see the changing uniforms, but the changing hairstyles as well.

Thanks, Commish! I wish I had seen that first. I would've voted for the shoulder rainbow because right now the rainbow uniforms look pretty awful!

I might just be me, but I really like their current ones, except for the alternate caps, uniforms...

Putting the Colt .45 uniforms on this poll was a no brainer for me.

Commish,do you think Oscar Gamble would look better in the rainbow than he did in the red Indians and White Sox pajama jerseys?

Thumbs up Colt 45s, hands down

Since this is titled "favorite Astros uniforms," the Colt .45s technically don't qualify ... But they are my favorite, no doubt ... Shooting Star from the late 60s, early 70s is a close 2nd.

You can have everything since McLane took over and started changing colors/logos every 3 seasons in some ill-advised attempt to increase his merchandising bottom line.

Tell me it wouldn't have been even cooler last night if Wagner pitched the 9th wearing that jersey.

Wow, excellent point. That would have been cool. I hate almost all the retro jerseys the teams wear these days (see 1979 Pirate retreads), but Wagner running to first in that Colt jersey would have looked sharp.

Reminds me of my favorite Gary Thorne moment from the no-hitter the other night. When Wagner struck out Posada in the 9th.Thorne said that Wagner took something off that pitch.Just so Gary Thorne knows, that was a 99mph fastball Wagner busted inside.

Well, if nothing else, at least Gary Thorne does know his hockey. I would actually rather listen to him broadcast a baseball game over McCarver,Berman, or Chip Caray any night.

I agree Commish.I remember him when did White Sox games in 1989.Probably his greatest moment as a Sox announcer in '89 is when he held color analyst Tom Paciorek to his word when Paciorek promised that he would shave his head if the Sox went on a 8-game winning streak comong out of the All-Star break.Keep in mind that the Sox had the worst record in baseball at the '89 break.I believe they were 29-56(?).So they started the second half 8-0 capped off with a doubleheader sweep at Fenway. The next night at Comiskey,SportsChannel did a 30 minute pre-game special leading up to Pacoirek getting his head shaved. In all retrospect, that was probably the highlight of the 1989 season, other than the local Fox station suing the White Sox because of low ratings. They were the flagship station at the time.

I have to admit, the Colt .45 uniform is pretty darn cool. I have read that one of the reasons the team became the Astros was because there was some problem with Colt Firearms about the Colt .45 name.
To those of y'all who liked the "shooting star" uniform, which did you prefer, the ones in purple or the ones in orange?
As for myself, I'll always like the rainbow or tequila sunrise unis the best, probably because those were worn by the first really good Astro teams.

Smile unis

I like the rainbow unis simply for their originality. You can ask any sports fan from anywhere in the country- not even necessarily a baseball fan and they can tell you "that's an Astros jersey." I don't think there are any teams that can say that. But I was wondering if you knew what the old Houston Buffs uniform looked like?

I like todays uniforms.

But I liked the former blue cap with gold star much better than the ugly black ones they have now.

My favorites are the Black and Gold from 1994-1999, with the Colt .45's coming in for a close second.

I don't know about the uniforms, but I have a Buffs throwback cap that I bought and the colors were very similar to the Cards (for obvious reasons).

Ok I have been bothered by this for a while now. I have a jersey of the before-mentioned 94-99 years and my jersey is navy with gold, not black and gold. Am I just color-blind? But then as I was at the games I swear they were navy not black. And I don't wear navy socks with black pants either!

You're not colorblind: The uniforms Houston wore in the late 90s featured a dark blue and gold color scheme.

The "shooting star" uni's of the 60s and 70s are my 2nd-favorite; hard to believe they haven't gotten at least one vote so far.

Yeah, I remember the drastic transition from the rainbow uniforms to the NAVY BLUE and gold. From that point until about '98, I lost track of baseball b/c the '94 strike pissed me off something fierce.

PopTop is correct.

I voted for the current uniforms, though - I love the pinstripes and the solids. Great contrast.

Thumbs up Rainbow Rules

Back in 1980,I flipped my TV to a channel showing Game 1 between the Astros and Phillies.Seeing those jerseys for the first time was a blast.I became a fan then and there and have been ever since. Is there anywhere to go on the net that would have photos of all the different jerseys the Astros have worn over the years? If there is could somebody let me know where?
