Maddux - underated in 2007

I personally think that Maddux has had a great season in SD. But, I never hear it stated or even commented on in the national press. I've said this in other forums but with a little run support he could have easily won on:

4/6, 4/17, 4/22, 5/4, 5/9, 5/31, 6/22, 7/18, 7/28, 8/3, 8/8 and 8/29

I'm sure we could say the say about other pitchers but that's a lot of ball games.

I hope he gets another ring this year.

Definitely. He hasn't received more attention is because he's "only" 11-9. Still, he's posting his best ERA since 2002. He's being overshadowed by Peavy and Young who are having phenomenal seasons, but the man can still flat out pitch. His 3.75 ERA may "only" be the third best on his staff, but it's still good enough for 14th best in the N.L.

I think he's not getting the attention because those may not "Maddux in his prime" numbers, but a heck of a lot of teams would kill to have a "Maddux in the twilight of his career" caliber pitcher.
