I'm glad Pence is getting a shot- hopefully the offense will get a shot in the arm with his call up. Let's hope he's not the next Beltran in some respects (hires Scott Boras, holds us hostage, signs with Mets)

Still wish we had taveras :/.Had a gun he could use to shootdown anyone. Not to mention he provided speed for baserunning and had a 30 game hit streak.

Nice to see somebody else say that. I've taken a lot of heat for that stance. Hunter pence is making the whole Taveras thing go down a little easier....so far.

Welcome, Showtime

I would've liked to have kept Taveras myself. But let's not forget that the first few months of 2005, Chilly Willy looked anything but instinctive out there in center. Feel sort of bad for Burke, kid has never had a real position with this club and has busted his butt to do his best. And he took the news like a man, accepted responsibility for not getting the job done.

Now we need to get Ensberg's pathetic stick out of the mix. Let Lamb play!

I couldn't agree with you more...I think because our mgmt is still hanging on to the 05' Ensberg- he gets a longer rope. Even Loretta could play 3rd for him. I like Burke and feel bad for him as well but --gotta get it done!

Any truth to the rumor that one of the reasons they let Willy T go is that his agent is Scott Boras, and after the Beltran debacle they don't want to deal with him anymore?

Willy T was a fine fielder, but a terrible hitter. He's a below average player. One can't discount Burke because he got off to a slow start this year, in rate performance, he was actually a better hitter than Taveras last year. He's also having a better season this year offensively. I think it's high time they gave Pence a shot, but I don't think Burke is as bad as he's being made out to be here.

Cant stand watching these games anymore. No offense I dont care if it is early in the season. To many errors that have caused far to many runs.Pitching is fine.We have the good hitters and know they can hit,but have we even thought of trying someone else besides sean berry?
GO ROCKETS!

Well, there is this guy nearby in Sugar Land that was a 1st round pick of the Astros ('73 I think) named Steve Englishbey that is one of the best hitting instructors around.

Thank you for the welcome mat. This looks like a great site. I'll look forward to being here more. Well said post as well. I agree with you on Burke. Even though his BA is down a little, he does have nine doubles and I wonder if some overlook that when they see his BA.

Willie T has been bringing it lately at the plate. As I type he is around .285 or so. I believe he's one on those who's best has yet to be seen, and by that I mean with some maturity at the plate he has some awesome capabilities, though unfulfilled at this point.

(Geez, Houston is over St. Louis 7-0 in the fifth, nice for a change)

I thought it was hilarious when he made that great catch on the Pujols line drive and made a divot with his knee. It was the thrird out and he is due to lead off the inning but he took the time to get the sod and replace the divot like a good golfer. Classic.
