Riding the "L" train

What are your opinions about the Astros having a SOLID bench -
Lane, Lamb & Loretta?

The bench has been great so far personally if biggio wasnt the great person he was and going for 3000 I would have Loretta in for 2b.And I really think that Lane should be the permanent center fielder burke has proven he is worse offensivly and i think lane might be even better defensivly.

ACK!!

Loretta over Biggio at 2nd? No thank you. Loretta is a solid backup, but really not much more. He doesnt have very good range, and has absolutely NO power in his bat.

And Lane in centerfield is a pretty scary idea too, i'd stick with the faster and rangier Burke. Lane has shown power, but how often is he going to have 6 hits with 4 of them being HR? Im guessing its sort of a fluke start.

Lane's made very good defensive plays and with his 6 at bats he has more production than burke.
Also Lidge is about to blow another one in Milwaukee.....good god get him out of here can't even hold a 4 run lead.

good thing you have the aging Biggio in there to hit a 9th inning grand slam, because if he only hit a bases clearing double....who knows what would have happened.

Lane is not a very good defensive player. Maybe in a corner outfield spot hes ok, but centerfield... thats a disaster waiting to happen.

I wouldn't call it solid, but it's decent. I wish O was more consistent, but I guess there's a reason why they're on the bench.
