I don't know of anything free within that distance. Hell, I don't know of anything free withing twice that distance, come to think of it.

But you can get off pretty cheap - - or at least you used to - - at the meters. I seem to recall they were changing those rules thanks to Mayor Bill 'Dollar Bill' White. But you used to be able to find an empty spot with a meter around 5:00 p.m., dump a couple of quarters in and that would carry you until the evening time slot when parking on the streets is/was free.

There were still a few $5 lots not far away last summer when I went. Are you familiar with downtown Houston at all?

Well, the only free parking I know of is in an area where you would need someone to guard your vehicle + you would have to be armed and wearing a flack jacket.

If you're staying out in the suburbs, you might consider taking a park-&-ride bus downtown that drops you/picks up about a block south of the home plate entrance to the park.

Streets run one way for the most part downtown. Two that you will be interested in are Texas (which runs one way east) and Crawford (which runs one way north). The intersection of those two streets puts you at the LF corner of the park near Union Station which is the building that sticks up beyond the left field wall.

Be careful crossing Main, the two-way street, because of the train that runs right down the center of the street
