Quick Hafner question

What precludes Travis Hafner from playing a field position?

It used to be his elbow. He had injury problems with it the past 2-3 years. Now, he's DH because you DON'T take a chance on screwing up his arm. Also, the Indians have plenty of 1B options and are happy to have one of the best DH's in the league.
