Astros sign Williams
the houston astros signed woody williams to a 2 year/12M contract with a club option on the third year
i say this is a great signing, especially in this FA market he is getting older and is going to a hitters park, so he wont be as good as he was last year, but i still think this was great spending of 12M good signing you guys

If Woody falters a little next year, it won't be due to Arthur Andersen Memorial Stadium in Houston being a 'great hitters park.' The Houston native has already proven he can pitch in that park, and pitch well, over his career. The media and people who have never actually been inside the stadium and watched game after game blow the LF bleachers out of proportion.
Williams has made 12 starts at the stadium since it opened, and he has an 8-3 record in those games. His teams are 9-3 in his starts at the park. In his three losses, he was chewed up and spit out to the tune of a 17.59 ERA. In the other nine games, Williams has a 2.14 ERA. |
