Astros re-sign Biggio
http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/a...=.jsp&c_id=mlb
HOUSTON -- The march toward 3,000 has almost begun. Weeks of negotiations ended on Friday with the Houston Astros' expected announcement that they have agreed to terms on a one-year deal with second baseman Craig Biggio. The contract will likely be the final one for Biggio, who enters his club-record 20th Major League season in 2007. |

20th Year!
![]() Figured the Astros would sign Biggio. It doesn't seem right with him wearing another uniform. I'm thinking he will retire after next year, but we'll see. Next year I guess will take care of itself. Last edited by Go Stros; 11-12-2006 at 04:27 PM. |

Well, he said he wasn't ruling out playing in 2008....I would hope if it is with the Astros, it would be a small part and not a starter.

Will be nice to see him get #3000 in an Astros uniform.

I'd like to see the Astros put up a statue to him.

Just north of the entrances to Union Station off Crawford. The two statues depict Bidge on second base throwing to Baggy at first base to, presumably, complete a doubleplay.

Yeah, I just saw the news on Wallace come across the wire here at work just before lunch. Had some friends up this past weekend for Wurstfest, and my buddy works for the Astros. We were talking about Jim Hickey, and he tells me that Hickey was probably let go for reasons other than his coaching skills.
Not sure what to think about Wallace. He certainly has the experience but I really don't know much about his 'pitching philosophy.' |

Evan, here's a link to a site that you can see what the statues look like...

Pop, The comment about the statue was dripping with sarcasim. Sorry I turned the thread around somewhat. As far as Wallace goes, from what I have heard and seen he is looked upon as a very good pitching coach, and the fact the Astros got him was a great step. Noted Gerry Hunsicker scooped up Jim Hickey to do some work with Tampa Bay's minor league pitchers.

Ok, wasn't sure if you'd seen it or not. Evan said he missed it on his last trip, so that's really why I was posting the link.
The Hun would be well-advised to keep Hickey away from the Florida beaches when the 'girls gone wild' spring breakers are in town ![]() |
