Angels 2006 Season Review
APRIL 23rd, 2006: The Angels began a slump and soon fell to 3rd place in their division, 10 weeks after "Los Angeles Angels" became official in an Orange County Court of Law. On May 4th, 2006; The Angels ended the longest losing streak since 2002, by defeating the Detroit Tigers by a score of 7 to 2. The Blue Jays then swept the Angels in 3 games during the weekend of May 5th through May 7th; and later The Dodgers swept The Halos 3 games to 0. The Angels soon slipped down to Last Place in their division. The slump contitnued on, as Angel Fans begin to talk out against The Angels General Manager, Bill Stoneman. At the end of the "Angels vs. Anaheim" Trial on February 9, 2006; an Orange County Jury ruled in favor of The Angels, and "Los Angeles Angels" became official. Judge Polos later ruled that the "of Anaheim" could be dropped from any Angels' Merchandise and Advertising. By strange coincidence, this is when the Angels Winning Records began to collapse.
In Late May 2006, as The "Los Angeles" Angels slipped into last place, The Anaheim Mighty Ducks Hockey Team made it all the way to The NHL Western Conference Finals, before losing the series to The Edmonton Oilers 4 games to 1. Following the All Star Break, The Angels regained some momentum, and advanced to second place in the division where they remained for the remainder of the 2006 Season. Later in the Summer of 2006, The Fullerton Flyers, which is now the sole Orange County Professional Baseball Team, advanced to the Golden Baseball League Championship Series, as the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim's 2006 Play Off hopes continued to fade. The Fullerton Flyers lost to The Reno Silver Sox 3 games to 1 in Early September 2006, but they did Orange County proud during the 2006 GBL Season. On September 26, 2006; The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim were finally eliminated from the race to the 2006 American League Play Offs. Some say that the "Curse of the L.A. Moniker" has begun.
