Grady hits Double # 50

The Tribe season-record for Doubles is 64, set by George Burns in 1926, playing in spacious League Park. Tris Speaker hit a ton of doubles there too. In some places, it was 500 feet from home plate to the wall, and it was 385 ft down both lines, but most of the fence was well over 400 ft from home plate ... although they roped off an area for SRO fans sometimes.

Like Forbes Field in P'burgh, League Park was a great place for extrabase hits and a terrible place for home runs, and most Tribe players in the '20s set personal records for doubles that they never came close to with other teams.

Grady also leads the majors in XBH with 83, but is well shy of the team record set by Albert Belle in '95, when he cranked out 50 homers and 50 doubles, and got robbed of the MVP award.
