Padres Accquire David Wells

I hear david wells told boston red sox if they were going to trade him anywhere it had to be on the west side or else he would retire because his house is in San Diego...

David Wells has been pitching very well as late though. He is only going to finish this season and retire, since he is doing so good lately i'm sure he will help san diego stay the wild card and help in the play offs. Unless he gets in a slump, of course.

I dont know why the Red Sox got a catcher though. They should of done a Boston gets a Reliver and Cash for Wells.

they don't need any relievers imo, they already have papelbon.

I do think they shoud have took cash for wells though, and they took a catcher probably because varitek is on the DL.

And the catcher they traded for is probably going to be gone from the red sox after this season because varitek will be back.

The Red Sox took the catcher because they have no catching depth in the orgainization. As far as Wells goes he will help the Padres alot and once they get into the playoffs is when his real value will show.

Wells went on the radio in SD over last winter and stated that he HATED living in Boston and wanted to come back to the Padres. But as long as the Sox were competitive that wasn't going to happen as he had a contract. We the Sox imploded, Boomer wasn't needed anymore and the Padres could get another decent SP fairly cheaply.

This is undoubtedly Wells' last year, I just think he wanted to come home for it.

No no no no... relievers are EXACTLY what the sox needed. Papelbon has been the only relaible one all year long, and now hes out for the rest of the season. And no, Kottaras will not be gone, he will most likely serve as Teks backup next season.

Most likely Kottaras will spend the year with the PawSox...I'd like to see Mirabelli work with him in regard to catching the knuckler.
