Has Jeff Bagwell actually retired?

Astro fans, I'm just wondering if Bagwell has actually announced his retirement or is he undergoing some treatment with the hopes of making a comeback one of these years?

What's his current contract status?

On the 60-day DL, showing up on the roster while all of the insurance hoopla takes place in the background.

He knows he won't play again...and it still saddens me to think of that...but he's opting for a better quality of life in his future instead of risking a re-injury that could severely cripple him.

I think this will all blow over quite smoothly in the off-season, and Jeff will stay with the club as a hitting coach. That's what I've heard from the rumor desk, and it tends to be fairly reliable.
