Time for Garner to go?

Garner is a decent manager, nothing special, but I would like to see a new manager for Houston next season.... Garner's lack of... envolvement in the game is irritating... he rarely goes out to argue a call, I'd just like a manager who actually seemed to care more than Garner

He's argued enough to have Cecil Cooper manage at least 3 games this year. Besides, arguing calls doesn't help the team.

Their needs are obvious and it isn't Garner. It's adequate offense. All the strategy and motivation in the world can't score runs if there isn't anyone on base.

Everett and Ausmus are the 8th and 9th worst offensive players in baseball among full timers. Put the pitcher's spot behind them and that's a fee inning for your oppossition.

Garner probably isn't going anywhere - we just went to the world series!! And we get plenty ON BASE - we just suck at timely hitting. I'd like to know where we rank in teams total LOB.
Garner might go after next year if we don't make playoffs for 2 years in a row ----as he should.

I think that Phil Garner is an awful manager, he doesnt manage the bullpen well and he doesn't have people like Adam Everett bunt when a guy's on 2nd with nobody out. I think with good managing, the Astros have another 8-10 wins on their record.

Garner is a good manager.
Conservative, makes a good lineup and he's just all you want from a manager, polite, caring about game and players but I agree he's not that involved in games.

No matter, since when has a manager won out on an argument against an ump anyway? Huh? NEVER.

So Garner is a good manager and you should keep him and I hope he won't get fired because of Houston misfortune.

The players are to blame for not producing consistently.

The Astros have a good team, Ausmus at C, Berkman at 1B, Biggio at 2B, Everett/Burke at SS, Ensberg at 3B, Luke Scott, Tavarez/Burke and Lane in OF.

Oh, and Mike Lamb has been a pleasent surprise too.

Garner is here to stay.

I've enjoyed Garner since he was a player in Houston. For a manager, he does his share of making in known when he doesn't agree with calls. I think he's got a set too, finally knocking Lidge out of his closer role and going with closer by committee. Doing what a lot of MLB managers won't do, sitting "high profile" players if they aren't producing, heck, even cut Preston Wilson completely from the team.

Scraps is an excellent manager. It's not his fault that this team, you know, the one with the 3rd highest payroll in baseball, can't score runs. I seriously thought that the acquisition of Preston Wilson, along with the type of season we saw from Ensberg and Lane last year, would provide a fairly devastating lineup. How incredible the letdown has been. The pitching isn't the same, but it's not bad - in fact, quite above mediocre.

Don't blame Garner. He's the last one I'd mention in the "fault" department.

BTW, that's just plain silly. Garner is ALWAYS extremely involved. He NEVER sits on his duff like, oh, Dusty Baker or the like. He's passionate and emotional.
