Q about caravans

My dad is a transplanted Tribe fan living in Victoria and following the 'Stros for the last 10 years, and wants to know if there are any fan caravans or buses to MM Park from there.

Any ideas or info would be greatly appreciated.

The best deal for your pop might be to contact the paper there, the Victoria Advocate. I'm willing to bet they can help him out.

Good luck with that and if he finds anything out, post it here so we'll all know in the future.

I haven't heard of any sort of caravan/buses going to MMP. When it first opened, you could go to some of the Metro Park and Rides and for 2 bucks get a ride to the park and back. We used it several times and thought it was great. However, in their infinite wisdom, either the Astros or Metro deceided to cancel that service...Houston's Brand of Baseball, I guess...

Lame, if you were taking a bus from Victoria to Houston for $2, then you got one helluva' deal

Thanks pop top, and everyone else who looked.

Dad's 82, and has been following baseball since Bob Feller was a rookie, and gets around really well, but doesn't drive any more (thank God). Yeah - he gave it up voluntarily.

The old guy likes his Astros almost as much as he loved his Tribe before retiring to South Texas.

If we find out anything about Victoria 'stros fans, we'll let ya know.

Yea, I guess so. My son and I would meet at the Little York P&R and then drive home to the Magnolia area. I knew of several folks who would drive in that far from Round Rock, Giddings, Brenham, etc. Oh and the price was 4 bucks, not 2. Ahh for the good old days back at the turn of the century

I do know that the Astros caravan themselves, at least a few of them, during the offseason to drum up support and make appearances, that sort of thing. I would think that would be a good time to meet some people who would know about that sort of stuff. The radio station or newspaper in a town that size could tell you about possible church groups, VFW groups, etc., who might have something like that still on tap for this summer.

You could get in touch with Astros marketing or ticket sales and see what kind of deal you could make for group seating, then contact the local bus line and see what kind of arrangements could be made as far as a charter to MMP.
