Carew over Girch at 2nd? Over Joyner of 86 at 1st? Carew is the hitting coach of the this Angel team

Is this career or just based on their tenure with the Angels? I'd put Reggie Jackson somewhere in there.

Mr Angel Brain Downing should be on the team

Best Team
I'd put Andy Messersmith in the rotation over John Lackey. I agree that Brian Downing should be on the bench. Troy Glaus at third over DeCinces. Add Troy Percival to the Bullpen.

Best Angel Team
No knock on Lackey's clutch post season performances but I'd still put a healthy Messersmith ahead of him. Before Nolan Ryan came to the Angels,he was the Angels all-time best, even better than Chance(overall). He was a dominating pitcher. Since Lackey does have a World Series track record, put him ahead of Chuck Finley then. Finley had a nice career as an Angel but only had better than a 3.30 ERA 4 times(Once early as a reliever in 25 games) in 14 seasons.

Glaus vs. DeCinces. Glaus played for the Angels 7 years, has a .253 career average, .945 fielding %, 182 homers as an Angel. DeCinces played for the Angels 6 years, had a .259 career average, .959 fielding %, 130 HR. Does Glaus' power make up for better fielding on the part of DeCinces?

DeCinces or Glaus
Good arguement for DeCinces,Cajun. I watched DeCinces in Baltimore before his best years,so I might not be as objective as I should be. Angels fans have a better perspective of the two. I'll bet there are fans of both that would argue this position.

Glaus also has a past history of injuries.

DeCinces-Glaus
Glaus last 2 years with the Angels were injury marred.
Both have about the same amount of post-season experience. Glaus 72 AB 18 Runs 25 hits 5 2B 1 3B 9 HR 16 RBI's .347 .333 ALCS .364 in 1 WS DeCinces 89 AB 13 Runs 24 Hits 6 2B 0 3B 2 HR 9 RBI's .270 .297 ALCS .200 in 1 WS Figgins,I visited Seal Beach on a vacation to Ca. once. Beautiful place! |

How come no one has mentioned Tim Salmon? Doesn't he own a bunch of Angels team records?

The list specifically stated the outfield positions rather than chose three outfielders. Salmon has to be in there somewhere.

Tim Salmon
You cant dismiss Tim Salmon as a qualified right fielder. He had some good years in his prime.
