its a shame that a franchise that once was outstanding has become a team that could beat the all time single season loss record. They do have some young talent however, lets hope they turn out to be good.

well, the potential is here..a few good players, and a few on the farm..
but the bulk of the club, needs to be deep sixed..and start from ground
zero, much like the Tigers..who three seasons earlier, lost a whopping
119 games, and almost beat the 1962 mets melt down of 40-120..

If the Tigers can make some decent progress in three seasons, after
over a decade of some gut wretching losing, then there's hope for
the Royals...hiring a solid GM, is the start.....question: is Bell thought
to be a total loser...? or is the plight of the club, causing fans to take
it out on Buddy ? could any MGR whip this team into some wins ?

you can be the best wagon master on the plains, but if you don't have
the horses, you ain't going anywhere..

The Royals also had some outstanding years during the 1970's, particularly 1975-78. Heck, in 1977 they had their best victory year with 102. Yeah, they managed to lose three straight playoffs to the Yankees, and for Royal fans, I'm sure that was frustrating. But ANY team can lose a short playoff. That's a fact of life - and any team can win a short playoff - it's just who's hot that week. Anyway, it's a heck of a lot harder to win 102 games than it is to win three.

The Royals were good in the 70's and 80's because of their great system. Even after the floodgates opened with free agency beginning in 1975, the smaller market Royals continued to with with that impressive minor league system that fed the big club with primo players. And quite frankly, that's the only way a small market team can win today. Fans want the owners to spend money for big time players, but how the heck do the Royals, Orioles, etc. compete with the moneybags of the Yankees, Red Sox, etc? They have to get their farm back in order. I remember when the Royals were created in 1969 and the impressive youngsters they had in their system. Within three years, they had a winning record - which was quite impressive for an expansion team.
