Glass, "Out of Patience"

http://www.kansascity.com/mld/kansas...s/14503988.htm

Pretty good read for Royals fans. Sounds like Glass is past waiting for improvement, up for some changes to the KC clubhouse, no specifics were given though.

Quote:
“I’m out of patience,” he said Thursday. “I have never been this frustrated. I’ve got to do something. This can’t continue.”

Glass declined, in a brief phone conversation, to specify the nature of what changes are under consideration but strongly indicated some action is imminent.
It goes on to talk about all the player's on the disabled list, boy I had no idea the Royals had so many guys out of action.

I dare, indeed. I feel bad about so loudly wanting someone to be fired who has tried as hard as Baird has, but he simply isn't up to the task.

Glass needs to do some serious soul searching to realize his culpability in this mess. While he has never been cheap he has not not given his GM a clear long term fiscal guideline for the club. This year he gives Baird $20M to spend on free agents when the crop of free agents was absolutely abysmal. Some years he wants a serious salary reduction. He would be better off telling the GM he can plan on a $55M budget for salaries for several years and let the GM develop a game plan rather than every year starting from scratch.

On a specific note the Royals need to beef up the quality of their drafts and spend whatever it takes to get these guys signed as soon as possible. Screwing around with Gordon last year cost a half-season of development time. When you are as screwed up as the Royals you have to accept that you are to have to overspend for a while to get the ship righted. You have to show the fans you are serious.

And the new GM needs to fire every person working in player development and start over. Their track record as a group the last five years is abysmal.
