Craig Biggio's run to 3,000!!!!

As of today, Craig Biggio went today he went 4 for 4 with a leadoff shot and scored 2 runs on today's win against the Pirates. And with this game today, Craig Biggio has 2,820 career hits, and is 180 hits shy of becoming the 27th member of the famous 3,000 hit Club, and he also is the 13th member of the 600 2B Club.

We'll gonna say that Biggio is a underrated player as Jeff Bagwell, and quietly, Biggio has put those numbers.

Hopefully, Biggio will be able to get 180 hits. He's still got it, but I don't know if he can last.

I think he's a lock to get to 3000 hits.

The guy's 40 years old. I think if he has a good year but just falls short of 3,000, he'll probably come back next year, especially if the Astros make it to the playoffs and fall short of the world Series. If the astros for some reason win, I think Biggio might want to just call it quit and go out on top, which IMHO at this point for him would be just as good as 3,000 hits.

Well, he entered the 2006 season with 205 hits shy of 3,000, yet he has only one 200 hit season, and that was 1998 when he had 210, by the way, he is the only Astro with a 200-hit season.

I think that Biggio is going to play next year also. He still has most of his skills, and with absense of Clemens I doubt the Astros are going to the WS this year, but hey who knows?

So I think he'll get it in mid-april or early-may of 2007.

Biggio is also 25 away from becoming the first player to be hit by 300 pitches. He averages about 20 a season so time next year.

I think Biggio will have about 175 hits this season and come back in 2007 for the 30 or he needs.

All things seem to point to next year being his final year: 20 solid years in the big leagues, 3,000 hits, probably another All Star selection.

Frankly even if the Astros don't make it to the post season he has done enough to call it quits with great applause and a guarenteed ticket to Cooperstown- and the first true Houstoner to go in...

Biggio actually only collected half of his hits at home.
Biggio at Home: 50%

Which is .4 percent less than Alomar, if you care to know.

Well so far Biggio is one "pace" for 225 hits! He has been on fire as of late. He's on my fantasy team and I almost dumped him about a week ago when he was batting about .210. He gave me four 3-hit games last week alone!!! Since last Monday he has gone 12/22 with 2 HR, and 7 RBI. Go Biggio!!!

But to get to 3000 this year, he'd need 205 hits for the year. Biggio has only once surpassed 200 hits in a year, and that was when he had 210 in 1998. He hasn't had 180 in a year since 2001. So 3000 hits for Biggio almost definitely seems like a 2007 thing.

You're right though. Looking at career numbers is the correct thing to do. My point was he has been an extreme homer the last few seasons. Without the MMP, he shouldn't even be playing.

As for you noting how Biggio is better than Alomar based on a few stats, here's a few stats I'll throw at ya': aren't stats fun?

Defense: According to many, Alomar was one of the greatest fielding secondbaseman of all-time (based on observable data-the past greats, who knows? Who do you ask?). Biggio was not one of the greatest fielding secondbaseman of all-time.

As for Biggio supposedly being hampered by playing in the Astrodome is false. I'm sure he enjoyed hitting all those doubles due to the cavernous outfield. Besides, the last several years playing in MMP has erased any disadvantage.

I know you're upset over Alomar's folding in the 2001 playoffs. Don't worry, I was too. He actually performed the way you'd expect Biggio to perform in the playoffs that year.

Faith is one thing, but anyone with any common sense can see he won't get it this year. It would take a miracle to happen for him to keep up with his current pace.
