Kansas City Games Info Questions

I am going to Kansas City with a group of guys in August and have a couple questions, if anyone can help.

1. Are there any discount ticket offers available for Royals games?

2. What is the best place to sit at Kauffman?

3. Any suggestions for can't miss BBQ?

The Negro League museum is already on the itinerary, and we are looking forward to that, as well as taking in a game at a ballpark none of us have been to before.

Thanks

1. I don't know of any discount plans for Royals games, other than the discounts you get for purchasing season or partial-season tickets or groups above 20. Tickets top out at $27 so they aren't very expensive anyway.

2. Most anyplace is good, but if you are going to be there on a Friday you will want to sit on the first base side somewhat toward first itself. They have a fireworks display on Friday nights that is quite good, but is very hard to see from the left field side of the stadium. Of course, you can always go to the parking lot and watch it, but it starts the instant the game is over.

3. If you are going to the NLBM then stopping by Arthur Bryant's for BBQ at lunch-time is a must. NLBM is at 18th & Vine while Bryant's is at 18th & Brooklyn (less than 1/2 a mile away).

Both places have websites. The NLBM is at www.nlbm.com and Bryant's is www.arthurbryantsbbq.com.

Thanks kcghost

Arthur Bryants sounds like a great location since we will probably be done at the museum right about lunch time. THanks for the info.

Good luck to the Royals - It has to be frustrating for the fans down there to put up with the way your team is being run.

Do you think that a Twins fan is coming to KC for any other reason than hoping his team wins??

The Royals not the ones spending the money on the stadiums, the citizens of Jackson County are.

They spent money on players this year and got squat. Just spending money doesn't solve a thing.

And, yes, they are a joke.

KC trip very enjoyable

Just got back from a 3 ballpark tour, KC on Thursday night was the first leg. Thanks for your tips, KCGhost.

We did go to the Negro League museum on Friday morning, and got to meet Buck O'Neil. A great guy who patiently signed autographs and posed for pictures with all who wanted to. I heard this morning he was hospitalized over the weekend - I hope he gets out quickly and gets the rest he needs. Quite a man for being 94! I had read his book before going, and it made the experience that much more enjoyable.

We also swung by the site of old Municipal Stadium. Has that site just been vacant all this time, and just now being turned into housing?

Arthur Bryant's was delicious and I would highly recommend. All in all a great time, as well as the rest of our trip (St Louis on Friday, Wrigley on Sat). The people we came in contact with in KC were all very friendly and helpful, and I hope to be able to come watch future Twins games there. It was great to see outdoor baseball for a change! Can't wait until the new Twins park opens in 2010.
