John Buck

What do you guys think about John Buck? I'm high on him, and I think he plays pretty solid defense and has a pretty good arm to go with it, and it usually takes catchers a few years to develope. So with that said, is John Buck destined to become a top five or ten catcher in the majors? Or is he destined to become another royal youngster who never developed? (Well, technically he's an astro's youngster, but who cares.)

Probably closer to the latter.. I see his future as being a back-up catcher. Way too many strikeouts for his own good. His OBP is never going to be tolerable until he can cut down on those K's and start putting the ball in play more often.

He would've been a star with Astros (given more time to develop with Ausmus).

***********My Rant on Bud Selig***********
Selig is like a stray pigeon. Pigeons are too self-absorbed to care about anyone else. They poo on people they don't like; they poo on people they don't even know. The only real difference between Selig and a pigeon is that Selig intends to bury our heritage, our traditions, and our culture,

Buck just isn't going to amount to anything other than a quality back-up who can't hit but will hit an HR every once in a while. The guy in 688 PA's has a K/BB ratio of 4.5 and an OBA under .300. And he is already 25.
