Cool Today's Royals Fun Fact

Did you know that with the right side of the infield of 2B Mark Grudzielanek and 1B Doug Mientkewicz, they team up to form the longest pair of last names on the right side of the infield in Major League history at 24 letters.

This eclipses the previous record of 22 letters set by Joe Cunningham and Red Schoendienst of the 1954 St.Louis Cardianls.

This accoring to Stats,LLC.

This record is based on players with the most games played at 1st and 2nd base in a given season, meaning that the duo must lead thier respective positions in games played to secure this odd record.
