Bernie Castro

Forget that Brandon Watson dude, I think Bernie Castro should be our next leadoff hitter...just compare the stats in AAA and in their majors campaigns:

Majors
Stat.....Watson.....Castro
ABs......40............80
AVG.....175..........288
OBP......250..........360
SLG......325..........350
HR.......1..............0
SB.......0-for-2......6-for-8

AAA
Stat.....Watson.....Castro
ABs......372..........502
AVG.....355..........315
OBP......400..........364
SLG......419..........382
HR.......1..............1
SB.......31-for-44......41-for-47

As you can see, Castro has shown more durability, baserunning accuracy, and control in the majors and in some respects the minors than Watson. Oh and Castro plays SS which means instead of giving Ryan Church the boot like Watson would, he'd do something productive and give Cristian Guzman the boot.

***********My Rant on Bud Selig***********
Selig is like a stray pigeon. Pigeons are too self-absorbed to care about anyone else. They poo on people they don't like; they poo on people they don't even know. The only real difference between Selig and a pigeon is that Selig intends to bury our heritage, our traditions, and our culture,

Good points. Maybe Castro can end up being the next healthy Jose Vidro, plus steals!

You do make some good points. But Watson really wasn't missing durability in the minors. He just spent quite a bit of time with the major league club, and I'll take his 36 point edge in OBP over the 10 more steals any day. But, it's hard to project minor league stats to major league ones. Watson's major league trial is too small a sample size to make something out of.

But, if Castro can play short that would be a good idea. We don't need Guzman or Clayton.

Castro, in fact, plays SS, 2B, and OF.
