Ballpark Hall of Fame

Which five ballparks should be the charter members of the baseball park Hall of Fame?Current ballparks are allowed as long as they are 40 years old or more. My five choices are Ebbets Field,The Polo Grounds, old Yankee Stadium(before the renovations), Tiger Stadium and Crosley Field.

OOOHH!! Very interesting topic there.

I would have to agree with you on at least 3 of those.

I would put Fenway and Wrigley in this charter class.

Its more fun for me to include only demolished parks.

Well.....it sounded fun in theory

Shibe Park
Polo Grounds
LA Wrigley Field
Forbes Field
Crosley Field

Ebbets will get the votes anyway....so LA Wrigley is in.

I would definitely include Shibe Park and Forbes Field because of their importance in being the first modern (steel and concreete) ballparks built in the U.S..

So my charter members would be:

Shibe Park
Forbes Field
Wrigley Field
Fenway Park
Yankee Stadium

Shibe Park
Polo Grounds
Wrigley Field
Fenway Park
Yankee Stadium

Sixth park: L.A. Wrigley, deserving of first class status, but the other 5 are superior.

LA Wrigley is an excellent choice. Lots of historic memories in that ballpark.

Ok to me if something is still standing over 90 years should be a Hall of Fame field
Major or Minor league...
here are three of mine.
Rickwood Field
Birmingham, Alabama
"The Oldest Park in the United States standing" Year Opened 1910 and still has Ad's on the walls that appeared 50 years ago

Don't forget where the first modern World Series started...
Exposition Park
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Year opened 1891

and where it started for alot of folks still standing
Oakville Negro League Stadium
Oakville, Maryland

Great stuff, thanks. Do they still play games in the Birmingham ballpark or is it a museum?
