wilky, wilky wilky- I'm speechless... How can a hall of fame for Nationals players even be considered? The team has existed for one season... Tops in BA was .289. OBP .408. (Not bad, Nick Johnson 6th in NL, tied 8th MLB. Well below Helton, Giambi, Pujols.) RBI 76 (76!!!!!). (Wilson had 90 for the year, less than half in D.C.) HR 24. SLG .479. SB 8. Wins 15. Only Cordero's 47 saves is worth mentioning. We need to give this time-and lots of it. I admire your enthusiasm and support for the team, but given the Nats have been here the grand total of one year and the mediocre to middling stats put up by team leaders, my personal opinion is the gun is being jumped. For me to consider any player worthy of a designation honoring his excellent play (even our own unofficial Nats HOF), it would have be excellent play over the course of several seasons, or above average and consistent play over many, many seasons. Perhaps Cordero and Zimmerman can approach my own personal standards somewhere around the year 2015 or beyond should they develop and prosper on the field as we hope. |

The 2005 Nationals hall-of-fames on BBF are...applause! ![]() Nick Johnson missed a whole month of play; Preston Wilson had a natural steroid: COORS FIELD. Go figure. 2015 is a long time to wait!

Yeah, I admire your enthusiasm Wilky, but it's way too early to have a HOF based only on this new Nationals franchise. No player yet deserves to be honored for their play as a Washington National.
I do have an idea though, if you really want to make a Nationals HOF (sort of). We could have a HOF made up of players from the Washington Senators and Montreal Expos, sort of having a combined "Nationals" HOF. |
