Cubs '45 Manager?

Which hall of famer managed the Cubs in 1945?

I know Grimm isnt in the Hall of Fame but according to baseball almanac,Grimm was the manager.

One scenario I can imagine is Grimm was ejected from a game, or missed some time due to illness or personal reasons, and an HOF'er filled in. I have no idea who was on the coaching staff of Cubs in 1945 and can't attempt even a guess.

I wonder who 55 chmps thought was the manager, because Grimm was the manager. And he is not in the HOF.

maybe you guys are right, but my friend showed me a picture of the 1945 Cubs and it said that Jimmie Foxx was the manager.

Jimmie Foxx was a player and team coach in 1944.

But never managed the team.
