major leaguer to incorporate himself. I'm taking the word of what I read a long time ago, yet I see no reference to this on the web...

A complete W.A.G.: Monte Ward. Just seems like the kind of thing he would do, plus he was a lawyer, and he may have had legal issues using his name for business purposes because of the mail order store (which was around before he started playing).
