and Fred Clarke were both issued patents for what? It's baseball related and if you look at their stats, it may provide a clue.

Right on...I also remember reading some 20 years ago that Rogers Hornsby's mother made him some special type of sliding pads. It doesn't appear these were patented however. Though I sure could be wrong. a
