M's sign Carl Everett
Looks like a one year deal w/ an option for 2007.
The M's say they've acomplished their off-season goals by signing him.... Does this guy have anything to contribute? http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/htm...webmari14.html

--If signing Carl Everett is accomplishing your goals then you haven't set the bar very high for yourself. There were better options available. He might be a slight upgrade to the Ms linep, but he doesn't have enough left to be worth the baggage - or even the rather modest expense.

I wouldn't sign the guy, especially not to play in that park. He doesn't believe in dinosaurs either, or so I've heard. But that's neither here nor there, though I do try to mention it whenever his name comes up.

Wow, the Mariners have acquired another mediocre player to carry on their proud tradition of the past two years by picking Carl Everett, to play alongside such winners as: Raul Ibanez; Randy Winn; Scott Spiezio; Shigetoshi Hasegawa; Aaron Sele; and let's not forget the "great" but short lived stint of Rich Aurilla.
Seriously has the Mariners GM been sniffing glue? They might as well just re-name this team the Seattle Mediocres. |

And Bavasi spent something like $60 million on the "One Year Wonder" Beltre.

" Does this guy have anything to contribute?"
Yes. Discontent in the clubhouse. Bob |

Randy Winn was traded to the Giants last year.

Did Bucky Jacobsen have reconstructive hip surgery or something? They apparently have PAs available to tinker with, but then go with Carl Everett?
EDIT: Knee surgeries. But he started recovery last June. Maybe room for both, I guess. Even if Everett did have a good attitude in Chicago, I don't know, but the Mariners won't win 75 games, so he won't be cheery. Last edited by plask_stirlac; 12-16-2005 at 10:23 PM. |

--Jacobson had knee surgery and apparently didn't work very hard at his recovery. Big mistake for a 30 year old career minor leaguer (with a long injury history). He has been released.

i dont see why the mariners picked up carl everett when we could have gotten better talent from jeromy burnitz...although burnitz is looking for a 2 year deal worth approx. 10 mill...so give him 1 year 6 mill with an option, and then just buy his ass out haha...thats alot better of a pick up than carl everett...
