Thumbs up Best Pull

This week I had probably the best pull in my 20 year of collecting. I will know when the next beckett comes out anyway. In a $9.99 box of cards that they sell at Wal-Mart, this box had 5 $2.99 packs of cards. I actually pulled atleast 6 good cards, but the best one was a 2005 Throwback Threads Game Used Bat Babe Ruth #ed 1/25. The photo on the card was in the Yankees uniform also which made me love it that much more being a yankee fan.

Top three:

I would say my three best pulls were

1. Ichiro Suziki 2002 Topps 206 Insert Bazooka Back.
2. Tris Speaker 2002 Topps 206 Relic Game Used Bat
3. 2001 SP Game Bat Edition Piece of the Game Autograph

Only kept one of the three.

Tonight, I pulled from a $1.99 05 Topps pack, an Ichiro All-Star Stitches ASR-15, solid blue patch, not numbered

That was from two packs. I bought three packs but wasn't gonna mention the third pack since it "only" had a Joe Nathan GU jersey. Then I looked through the third pack more carefully today. It also has a Wade Boggs game-used bat HF-WB. You may officially hate me

All I can say is wow. How many inserts come in a box, and how much should a pack cost? Talk about a nice ROI.

I got separate packs, not a box (as I said, I only got three packs). They're $1.99 a pack

Egads. Looks like a stop at the card shop will happen on the way home. Unless it's like the state lottery, where only those in Northeast Ohio or Columbus ever have a chance to get anything.
Either way, very, very nice.

Let's put it this way, the pack wrapper says there are two "groups" of Hall of Fame Relic cards. The MORE plentiful group has the odds of pulling one at 1 in 1,612 (the other is 1 in 5,587)

Maybe they're from one of those special boxes where every pack has an insert like that. That may only be a rumor, but one never knows.

I would still not recommend it unless you "know what you're doing", but it's up to you

Well, I've been collecting for a long, long time, but I do not know the "tricks of the trade" in terms of getting good pulls. Yeah, until I learn what to look for, buying packs will only be buying packs.
More power to those who hold the secrets.

I certainly wouldn't get mad about that. I'd much rather know that an intelligent baseball fan like yourself, who will appreciate the card, pulled it than some sleazy dealer.

Not to encourage you Captain Cold Nose, but I got one more pack . . .
. . . and pulled another jersey, but it was "only" Matt Clement

1. Frank Thomas autographed bobblehead doll from 2002 UD Ballpark Idols ($30 box and my 1st Thomas autograph)
2. Reggie Jackson 1/2 "Mr. October" notation auto from 2004 Fleer InScribed ($45 box)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...stpullever.jpg
3. Nolan Ryan Patch/100 from 2002 Fleer Greats ($2.99 retail pack)

I know it's not a pull, but I just bought a Steve Carlton Hat/Bat/Glove/Jersey TAG/ Auto 1/1 from 2005 Playoff Absolute Memorabilia and I didn't break the bank on it.
