New Royals Uniforms in 2006

The Kansas City Royals are going back in time for the 2006 season.

A brand new home and road uniform will be worn by the Royals next season, but it won't be anything revolutionary for the club. The design is very reminiscent of the uniforms the Royals wore in the mid-90s before they added black to their colour scheme.

The black is gone from the home and road uniforms... but it isn't totally being removed from the picture, they will apparently still be wearing black alternates on the road.

Also gone is the 'baseball' alternate logo that the club was wearing on their sleeves for the road and road alternate uniforms since the 2002 season.

You can view the new home and road uniforms of the Kansas City Royals in the Royals section of Chris Creamer's Sports Logos. www.sportslogos.net

Unlike most other team sports, in which teams usually have an equivalent number of players on the field at any given time, in baseball the hitting team is at a numerical disadvantage, with a maximum of 5 players and 2 base coaches on the field at any time, compared to the fielding team's 9 players. For this reason, leaving the dugout to join a fight is generally considered acceptable in that it results in numerical equivalence on the field, and a fairer fight.

Good decision!

I am glad that they return to their classic, traditional uniform.

Let's hope they will keep it that way.

Now if they could just return to their winning ways when George Brett was leading the team!

I'm glad the Royals did this! I was afraid that they were slowly fading out the royal blue hats in favor of the black ones with the blue brims. I'm not a big fan of those...

No chance in reactivating George Brett to help the club and put him in those unis?

I'm not totally crazy about these, but hey, KC's on a budget, it's probably all they could afford.

I like those unis all around. The royals have always had that classic look to them.

I really liked those black alternates that had "Royals" on the front.

Sorry to resurrect a dead thread.

That is a very cool site nascarfn5. I dig the history of team names, logos, etc., so I enjoy seeing stuff like that.

Puzzling, though. The Seattle Mariners page omits anything about the logos/scripts used from 1987 through 1992. It was my least favorite of their logos, just a yellow S.....**shrug**
