Fat burning is the most important thing here. Walking, even on a treadmill, will do more toward getting that area in shape without bulking it up. The idea is to work the actual areas, so lots of reps, little resistance.

Leg Press and squats will help you build up your glute muscles, but you've gotta do aerobic and watch your diet to cut down the fat. Even with all the fancy new machines, I don't think that anything beats running. I prefer to bike when I can because it's more fun for me, but running is best if you can be disciplined and stay with it.

The only bad thing about an exercise bike is that you can really slack off while still thinking that you're working hard, like if you set the bike to low resistance and don't pedal very fast. If you're actually running or riding a bike on the road, you've got to maintain a reasonable effort just to keep going. Not to sound like a stalker, but in what part of the country do you live? Can you exercise outside during the winter? If you live in the snow belt, cross country skiing is a tremendous cardio workout...I'd recommend that highly. |

Walking uphill or even better a steep hill will definitely do the trick on this one. You don't have to overdo the weights on this.

Stiff legged dead lifts are also good. If you are only 13, I would wait a couple more years though. |

run, run and run
I'm with hellborn. You can't beat running for butt development. For that matter, you can't beat running for aerobic conditioning.

Is strengthening the buttocks necessary for baseball?
