Go, Go You Pilots!

Go, Go You Pilots!
You proud Seattle team.
Go, Go You Pilots!
Go out and build a dream.

You brought the majors to the
Evergreen Northwest.
Now Go, Go You Pilots!
You’re going to be the best.

Welcome the Yankees
With pinstripe suits and all.
Red Sox and Royals
From April ‘till the Fall.

American Leaguers
You’ve got what’s know as class.
So, welcome to Seattle
It’s going to be a gas.

Go, Go, Go, Go, Go, Go, Go, Go

Now Go, Go You Pilots!
You’re going to be the best.

White Sox and Tigers
The Angels and the A’s.
See them at the ballpark
On those good ol’ summer days.

Orioles and Senators
The Indians and Twins
Our Pilots ask no favors
As they battle you for wins.

So Go, Go You Pilots!
You proud Seattle team.
Go, Go You Pilots!
It’s time to shout and scream.
We’re with you Pilots
You’re big league all the way.
So Go, Go You Pilots!
Go, Go You Pilots!
Go, Go You Pilots!
When the umpire hollers, “play!”

Interesting. What's the name of the artist that recorded that? Also, do you happen to know what was on the B-side?

Go, Go You Pilots!

For their home opener against the Chicago White Sox on April 11, 1969, the pre-game ceremonies included sportscaster Rod Belcher who wrote and delivered his rendition of the new fight song, "Go Go You Pilots!" He also released the song to local radio stations under the name "Doris Doubleday and His Command Pilots." On the reverse side was the instrumental version of the same song.

A short clip of "Go Go You Pilots"

I've posted this link in another thread here in the Pilots forum, but in case you've missed it, here's a link to Jim Bouton's website with a brief audio clip (first verse) of "Go Go You Pilots"

the Pilots song

has anyone heard this little ditty ? was it 'pop' ? 'rock'n roll' ? or just some middle of the road drivel ? was it any good ? the lyrics are a hoot..probably doesn't sound tooo bad, with the melody..

do the Mariners have a similar song ?

Go, Go You Pilots

The Pilots Team Song was a bit of a jingle -- a nice tune, somewhat like a "Gilligan's Island" tune. Definitely something out of the 60's. You can hear the clip on www.brandx.net/pilots/histindx.html ...or just get into the brandx.net or seattlepilots.com website and click on "history".

Oh yeah I remember it well. It would come on when the pregame broadcast was beginning. I guess to a seven year old kid it was a big deal. It was just a full song jingle. Mariners never had a song as far as I can remember.

Yeah... it's hilarious.

Now the Astros are a team that likes to go out on the town
We like to drink and fight and **** till curfew comes around
Then it's time to make the trek
We better be back for buddy's check
It makes a fellow proud to be an Astro.

That's just the first verse.

The Pilots' Theme Song Edited For 1970

The Seattle Pilots left town and landed in Milwaukee to a different tune. The edited lyrics tell the abbreviated story of the 'proud Seattle team' and the sad event of 1970:

Go, Go You Pilots!
You proud Seattle team.
Go, Go You Pilots!
You are a bankrupt team.

You’re bought by a car dealer
causing much unrest.
Now Go, Go You Pilots!
You’re going to the midwest.

‘member theYankees
with the Oyler-Murcer brawl.
Red Sox and Royals
we did not win them all.

American League owners
you sided with the Pres.
And gave us enough money
to last through March, if best.

Go, Go, Go, Go, Go, Go, Go, Go

Now Go, Go You Pilots!
You’re going to the midwest.

White Sox and Tigers
the Angels and the A’s.
See them at other ballparks-
Sicks‘ is closed today.

Orioles and Senators
the Indians and Twins.
Our Pilots left for Milwaukee
as Seattle grins and grins.

So Go, Go You Pilots!
You proud Seattle team.
Go, Go You Pilots!
This year is just a dream.
Eddie tried to save you, Pilots
but Joe turned him away.
So Go, Go You Pilots!
Go, Go You Pilots!
Go, Go You Pilots!
As Seattle hollers, “Hey!”
