Angels' Logo

I don't know if I'm the only one but I think the Angels need to change their logo. Why? Because that logo, I can only associate with the Anaheim Angels and not the L.A. Angels.

Unlike most other team sports, in which teams usually have an equivalent number of players on the field at any given time, in baseball the hitting team is at a numerical disadvantage, with a maximum of 5 players and 2 base coaches on the field at any time, compared to the fielding team's 9 players. For this reason, leaving the dugout to join a fight is generally considered acceptable in that it results in numerical equivalence on the field, and a fairer fight.

Can't help but agree. I don't understand what's with this weird identity crisis; they need to just pick a hometown and go with it. Their justification, I guess, is that "A" is for "Angel".

Yep.

Why do they need to change? The Athletics also wear the first letter of the team name on their cap.

Besides, I still consider the Angels from Anaheim, not from Los Angeles.

I am not the only on thinking this. I saw a couple of people walking around at Angel Stadium with red t-shirts: We're not L.A.

The "A" logo has always mean "Angels" an dnot Anaheim. Back when they ere the California Angels the had basically two different logos with just an "A." Starting in 1971, they had the little "A" logo and the next season they went to the Big "A" logo which with a couple of modifications kept until the early 1990s.

The fans and organization really likes the current "A" logo and there are no plans to change it. Severl Angels fans have made and "LA" logo similar to the old 1961-65 LA Angels cap logo.

Here is another one. Remember these are some suggestions some fans have made, but with all the flap over the name, I doubt if anything will really change and don't think the club really wants to.

Why would they want the L on their logo. The Angels should just built a staduim in Long Beach like what Autry wanted before moving to Anaheim then they can call themselves the LA Angels

Autry refused the Long Beach deal because the Long Beach City Council insisted that the club be called the Long Beach Angels, which have made a lot more sense that Anaheim since Long Beach has 100,000 more people, a major port, a regional airport, University, community college, and a Freeway named for the city, all of which Anaheim does not.

Remember, these logos were someone's suggestions and are no way connected officially with the club or anything that the club is planning.

I really hate the new official name of the Angels. Several times when I came in this forum, I usually search "Anaheim Angels" in the listing thinking it was the first name in the AL listing... aaaah noooo, let's search a bit below more!!!

Between KC Royals and Minnesota Twins I can find it!

I do too, that "of Anaheim" must go. Guys, the Anaheim thing was a Disney creation to go along with that hocket team named after a kids movies starring paula Abdual's ex husband. It was California for 31+ seasons, if anything people still look for California as opposded to Anaheim.

Check the map, Anaheim is in the greater LA area. Look at the picture, too. Is there any real delineation between the two. OC exist as a suburban bedroom community, because of its proximity to LA.

Those are some Orance County residents who feel that OC is not LA and have become elitists. They are mad at Arte.

People move to Orange County because they can not afford to buy homes in LA

Actually, many OC home are much more expensive now than LA Co houses and they are newer. OC is more affluent that LA County as a whole, too. But those are characteristics of suburban bedroom communities, just like much of the San Gabriel Valley is today and the SF Valley back in the 1950s.

Many of those professionals choose not to live in LA proper because the quality of life is much better in OC that it is in many places in LA County and most school districts are better than many of LA County's districts. So your statement is pure bunk.

I am talking about certain parts of LA compared to Orange County not the suburban areas and the flight to the surburbs of LA are totally different than what it was in the 1950's because now professionals are choosing to live in the city that is why new apartment complexs are being built in West LA, Long Beach, Hollywood, Santa Monica and even dowtown and people going to the suburbs are the minorties

What is the average price of home sales in Pasedena 580-620
Most of the others areas of the SGV and the SFV drops the average price in LA County because they are not considered high demand destenations
Comapred to Orange County which people in the Inland Empire and maybe even Eastern LA County consider high demand zip codes

That's silly. "The greater L.A. area"--sounds like something made up by Cal Worthington to sell more cars. L.A. is L.A., and Anaheim is Anaheim.

I guess Tiajuana is part of the greater San Diego area????

No need to change logos again.

It ain't broke, so no need to fix it.

When the team was the Los Angeles Angels and played in L.A. their logo meant "Los Angeles." But whenever they used just A's in the logos they have always meant "Angels" not Anaheim. So, whether or not Arte loses his court fight with the city it STILL means "Angels."

First we had the "LA" while in Los Angeles.
Then the entwined "CA."
Then the lower case "a."
Then the capital "A" with the yellow halo.
Then the flying "A" from Disney.
Currently we have the newer redesigned (also, by Disney) red "A'" with the silver halo. (This is the best one. We should stick with this one.)

Look at the Yankees' "NY" or the Dodgers' "LA." They are classics, and never change. Why can't we stick with one logo? Nothing wrong with the current "A." It still reminds me of the 2002 World Series Champions, and I'm not ready to let that go yet.

Actually, Tijuana is actually part of the greater San Diego area very much like Ciudad Juarez and El Paso are, Kansas City, KS and Kansas City, MO, Niagara Falls, ONT, and Niagara Falls, NY, and the Greater New York City Area includes parts of NJ and CT. Frankly, San Bernardino, Riverside, and Ventura Counties also have area which are downright suburbs of LA and the whole counties of each are part of the US Census's CMSA which inculdes LA as its hub.

BTW, it's "Tijuana" not "Tiajuana."
