Consecutive games streak
Barry Bonds just ended his streak for safely reaching base in 58 straingt games. I didn't see what the record is for this. Do any of you know? (DiMaggio hit safely in 56 straingt games. He may have gotten a walk in his first hitless games after that streak.)
I believe Ted Williams holds the record for reaching base safely in consecutive at-bats (16 in 1957: 6 hits, 9 walks, 1 HBP) -- unless Bonds has now broken that string also.

RE: Consecutive games streak
DiMaggio did continue to reach base beyond that point and eventually established the record at 74 consecutive games.

RE: Consecutive games streak
Thanks for the input. Maybe that better helps me accept that DiMaggio beat Williams for the 1941 AL-MVP.
(But I STILL don't understand the 1942 AL-MVP choice of Joe Gordon over Ted Williams!)

Resurrecting this ancient thread from 2002, (Im scanning very old Forum sections of BBF that I seldom visit today) The record for consecutive games reached base has actually been determined to be 84 by Ted Williams in 1949. I think it was one of the SABR, or SABR inspired anyway; score sheet / box score projects of recent years that allowed this record to be found / calculated.

Orlando Cabrera had a 63-game on-base streak last year, but that's about all I can remember.
