memorabilia appraisal

I just moved and in the course of packing and unpacking, I found a lot of 60s and 70s Orioles and Phillies stuff that I'm sure has some value. Sean suggested I try this website and see if someone might be able to give me a fairly accurate idea as to how much some of these items are worth, or refer me to someone who can.

Thanks,
Dave

Find the stuff on EBAY. That is fair market value. Price guides mean nothing these days.

Appraisal

I am a longtime autograph and memorabilia collector and have had tables at a few shows in the Chicago area. If you email me a list of what you have, I will be more than happy to give you a good appraisal of what it is worth.

it's true.

By looking at E-Bay, you can find out what people are willing to pay for it.

I believe PSA/DNA can certify autographs, but I'm not sure how they do it exactly. Someone who knows more might be able to enlighten us all.

I also agree that the price guides tend to be rather useless. The problem is that just becasue they list something as having a certain "value" doesn't mean that anyone would be willing to buy it for anywhere near that much.

I use price guides to gauge how much I should pay for a particular item ... if I end up paying 30-70% of high-book-value then I consider it a good deal ...

I wouldn't call them useless by any means ... I just wouldn't pay high-book for anything ...

That's right, they do. I haven't tried it myself, but I know other collectors that have. It helps if you can have a picture of the player signing your item. Other than that, they refer to a catalog or database, if you will, to see if the signatures are consistent.

autographed baseball

Does anyone here know what a baseball autographed by Satchel Paige and the 1957 Milwaukee Braves including Hank Aaron might be worth?
