Probably was before the season ended. If you look, the upper deck on the
1B side doesn't have the canopy and all of the seating planks aren't in yet.

Ok. So these aren't recent. I'm interested in the clubhouse. Does it have a slanted roof? Or am I just looking at the pictures wrong.

I e-mailed Matt Cerrone of Metsblog to ask him if he knew how this guy was able to get the tour. This was his response:

I believe he works for an architecture firm that was invited in on official business.

[quote=nymdan9;1026813]No, no. It's not 8 feet tall. It hangs 8 feet onto the field:

If a ball hits the overhang and falls back to the field is it still in play or a homerun? I hope it's the first option. It makes it a little green monster-ish

New Mets.com Construction Update for October:

October 2007
With the hard work of more than 450 skilled professionals, construction of Citi Field continues to progress at an accelerated pace this fall.

Approximately 70% of Citi Field's structural steel frame has been installed, with steel extending up to the Promenade Level along the right field line. The framing of Citi Field's main entry - the Jackie Robinson Rotunda - is progressing and steel installation will soon begin.

More than 60% of the stadium concrete plank - the tiered concrete structures that will support the ballpark's seats - has been installed. This now includes the seating areas for the main concourse as well as portions of the Suite, Club and Promenade Levels. The entrance stairs from 126th Street to the Main Concourse have also been built.

The brick façade, or architectural precast, is well on its way to totally enclosing the administration building, including the future retail/storefront space that fronts 126th Street. Fans traveling down Roosevelt Avenue can also see the rich brick exterior enveloping the south side of Citi Field continuing its march toward the Jackie Robinson Rotunda.

At completion, Citi Field will contain:
• 12,500 tons of steel
• 2,400 pieces of stadium concrete plank
• 1.2 million bricks

One interesting part: "The framing of Citi Field's main entry - the Jackie Robinson Rotunda - is progressing and steel installation will soon begin." I belive that means they are going to start work on enclosing the Rotunda now!

You can see Steel already up inside the Rotunda and other stuff on the ground waiting to be installed.

Nice Find!

Beauty! I saw this last night when I googled "aerial photos of Citi Field." I'm pretty computer illiterate so I'm glad someone got it up. I hope they start taking more shots like these as this continues because it's getting hard to see inside of the stadium.

Are all of the lower level seating rows in yet? From this aerial shot it looks like the upper deck is well proportioned to the lower deck.

And I had no clue there was a marina near Shea.

Nope. They excavate the field once all the steel is installed, and add more rows of seating to the field level.

Here's what it will look like from above.

It looks like Citi Field will have plenty of parking. What do you think the rates will be to park? 15$ 20$, 30$?

Well, it's $14 at Shea right now. I don't think the opening of Citi Field will have any impact on the parking pricing. It's been going up through the years anyway.

Ok. I just thought that the Mets might try to reap in more money with the parking lots when Citi Field opens. I'm excited about our new ballpark, it's looking great.

Interesting, thanks for posting.

It's nice to see all the accessiblity provisions being put into place. I'd imagine that now, it must be a nightmare to go to Shea in a wheelchair.

While Citi will certainly be state-of-the-art for accessibility, Shea's actually not bad at all. I bring my elderly mother to a couple of games a year - tickets are pretty cheap, especially at the right field area, and you get to enter/exit through the press gate and use their elevator! Mets' personnel are very friendly and helpful as they guide you through and even met Steve Somers from the FAN on the elevator this year, even shook his hand and chatted a bit!

Very interesting, especially the discussion about subway accessibility. I've been wondering if the current subway ramp will be left in place - as it currently stands, once you leave the subway you go slightly to the left, towards Shea, before you arrive at the stairs. Once Citi Field takes over, that same "slightly to the left" will take you away from Citi and towards the parking lot.

I've also been wondering why they decided to put Citi Field where they did. By that, I mean, why in the middle of the block between Roosevelt Avenue and Northern Boulevard (erroneously identified as the Whitestone Expressway on the Shea/Citi comparison), as opposed to the corner of 126th and Roosevelt or the corner of 126th and Northern.

Well, it's not like there's anything worth putting the stadium across from in either of the spots you mentioned. Behind Shea, Northern Blvd is just a road with nothing on either side, and on the other side of Roosevelt Ave is a parking lot and the bus depot. By putting it where it is, it will be across the street from whatever eventually replaces the chop shops... hopefully restaurants and shops along 126th. There wouldn't be anything of note across from it if they put it where you suggested.

Well, you guys were just talking about accessibility. I would imagine they put the stadium where it is to make it more accessible from 3 sides of the stadium instead of 2 stadiums.

Not Citi Field but over at the Nats New Stadium webcam the new webcam from the pressbox shows you a good view of the process of installing the playing surface.

Did you guys read about the accessibility of the 7 train for Citi Field. They said as of now it is unavailable.

The Mets will be screwed if the MTA doesn't work something out with them.
