^Gary, I can almost smell the stale beer, hear the D-train and see the scalpers right here from home
Here are some pics I recently purchased of the 1977 All Star Game. Count the HOFers.

Here's as current a view of what River Avenue across the street from Yankee Stadium looks like as you can get... these shots are from last night (if you're reading this on 7/30/08, that is!!!!!), and I took them especially for this thread. (See what you started with your post #93, Lpeters199?

Thanks, Gary, for the good look at River Avenue. Here's few fuzzy looks at a police chase from a 1961 Naked City episode that shows River Avenue and some of the businesses across the street from Yankee Stadium.

Awesome! Fascinating to see what businesses used to be across the street. I know Manny's Baseball Land used to be where Stan's is, but to see that there was something before Manny's... I suppose it's not so unusual, it's just that I never gave it much thought...
I wonder what other gems are hidden away in those Naked City programs... comic book collectors were recently thrilled to discover a scene in one episode that took place in front of a newsstand, and a copy of Amazing Fantasy #15, the very first appearance of Spider-Man, was clearly visible in the background... a copy of that same issue sold for $13,145.00 at a May 2008 Heritage auction...

great pix from '77 asg!!!!! i sat in rf bleachers so i could not see this happening, any pix of the long-distance throwing contest (informal) during bp?
the stills from "naked city" shows a bar/resturant @ 158th & river av. which is now "stan's". great enlargements of late 60's early 70's nyy yearbook pix, u can see them if you get there early!
best way to see near-current pix of ballpark exteriors/neighborhoods is google maps street view.
I found this photo of the concourse side of one of the portals to the batters-eye section of the bleachers on Flickr. User britche's description: "Downpour at Yankee Stadium."

I have had access to some of the so called hidden areas of the Stadium, here are some of them www.anazphoto.smugmug.com They are too large for me to post here
Once I can reduce the size, I'll post some here, I have more to come soon.
Thanks for the compliment

I really hope the Yankees change their mind about tearing down Yankee Stadium, and do something like this when the place finally closes.

It is Osaka Stadium. When it went bankrupt after the bubble burst, they thought of several ways to use it. One of them was to build a housing exhibition there. They made several showroom houses, and opened them up to the general public for viewing. This was in 1991, but didn't last for long. You can see more pics and details here (if you read Japanese): http://fudoki.web.fc2.com/osaka2.htm
that is so freakin outrageous
if the yankees really did that would you want to live there
That's nut! That would never happen today with the Nazis out there keepin' order. I Love the sign that looks like an NYS License plate from the 70's

Where do the players enter the stadium, and where do they park? Were the players' entrance and parking lot in the same places before the refurbishment?
That picture doesn't look right to me. Since when was the scoreboard with the official time on it, in right center? It's in left center.
