First off, put Edgar at 3rd base, and give a shout out to John Moses, Mike Moore, and Bruce Bochte.

As much as I liked Cruz, I think Boone has to have already replaced him at second base. If not then he certainly, at least, deserves a spot on the bench.

Oh, wow, I just missed seeing you post that by a few seconds before me.
When you put that squad together, it's mighty impressive for an all-time lineup of a team that hasn't even been in existence for 30 years!!!

Exactly what I was thinking. Of course, it's nothing compared with what you could come up with for the Yankees, but it's an incredibly impressive squad for less than 3 decades.

I am surprised that Danny Tarabull or Ken Phelps never got an honorable mention.

Phelps probably deserves a spot somewhere, but Tartabull only really had one full season with the ballclub.

I'm not even sure about Phelps. He never had more than 100 hits with the Ms, or for that matter, any time during his career. But hey, if you want to replace Tino with Phelps on the list of reserves, go ahead.

No, I'd just probably make room for Ken on the 40 man roster instead. He did put up some good HR numbers for the club, but I just don't see replacing any of those present reserves with him.

This is true. I'd put him on the 40-man.

First off before I put down my list how could you put Gaylord Perry and Griffey Sr. on the list??
Perry on played for the M's two seasons with a 13-22 w/l record with a era over 4.60??
Griffey Sr. the only reason he played with the M's was to babysit Jr. Griffey Sr. played two seasons and only 51 games!?!? Come 'on:confused:

I found an old thread on google and wanted to put my 2 cents in:
Seattle Mariners 30 year anniversary team (25-man roster):
C -- Wilson, Valle
1B -- Davis, Olerud
2B -- Boone, Reynolds
SS -- A-Rod, Visquel
3B -- Martinez
LF -- Bradley
CF -- Griffey, Cameron
RF -- Ichiro, Buhner
SP -- Johnson, Moyer, Garcia, Langston, Bannister
RP -- Swift, Nelson, Rhodes, Charlton, Caudell, Sasaki
Manager -- Lou Piniella
Hon Men: Tino, Sexson, Bochte, Julio Cruz, Presley, MacLemore, David Bell, Beltre, Paciorek, Stan Javier, Ruppert Jones, Dave Henderson, Danny Tartabull, Willie Horton (and his one great season!), Mike Moore, Felix, Erik Hanson, Dave Fleming (and HIS one great season), Mike Schooler, Ed Vandeberg, Matt Young, Shiggy, Mike Jackson and hopefully Johjima
I chose Bannister over Moore and Hanson because he was a lefty w/heat. I chose him over Felix obviously because Felix is too young, I would expect Hernandez to easily make this team, though.
Swift had that sinker, great for the Kingdome; Schooler became an awful pitcher toward the end.
I figured that since A-Rod is now a third sacker and since the M's have a pretty mediocre history with third basemen, I would leave a backup off the team and take an 11th pitcher. If I had to choose a backup 3B, I'd pick Mac (because he was clutch and versatile), or Beltre (because he is their best fielder and has the most potential) as a true back-up and probably lop Omar (if I picked Mac), Rhodes or Cuffs.
But, what do I know?

Hey, welcome!
It's always good to hear from Mariner's fans - they are too few here at this site - so I hope you stick around and put a word in edgewise on some other topics
I sorta stopped paying attention to M's in great detail after leaving Washington state in '91, so I'm going to give a pre-90s list.
C: Bob Kearney
1B: Bruce Bochte
2B: Julio Cruz
3B: Jim Presley
SS: Craig Reynolds
LF: Phil Bradley
CF: Ken Griffey. Jr.
RF: Dave Henderson
DH: Gorman Thomas (Sorry, Brewers fans, but we loved him, too).
Starting Rotation: Mark Langston, Floyd Bannister, Jim Beattie, Mike Moore, Rick Honeycutt
Bullpen: Ed VandeBerg, Edwin Nunez, Roy Thomas, Karl Best

Well, that means you missed out on the best of the Mariners, heck, the only person on that team that would still be there today is Griffey (and maybe Presley).

I am revising my orgional posting:
Seattle Mariners --
30-man All-Time Roster
C) Wilson, Johjima
1B) Davis, Olerud
2B) Boone, Reynolds
SS) Rodriguez, Visquel
3B) Martinez, Presley
OF) Ichiro, Bradley
OF) Griffey, Cameron
OF) Buhner, Ibanez
SP) Johnson (L), Moyer (L), Garcia, Langston (L), Moore
RP) Caudill, Swift, Young (L), Jackson, Schooler, Charlton (L),
Nelson, Rhodes (L), Sasaki
Mariners have had two great bullpens. 1991(which they traded away for Kevin Mitchell) and 2001. I basically left those two in tact and added Cuffs, from '82. I still expect Hernandez to make this team. Probably Lopez and Betancourt, too. I chose Johjima over Valle. Valle was a fine catcher (as was Ray Fosse -- Even a broken, post Rose-flattened Fosse), but Johjima is the flavor of the month and he has much more upside. Others I considered for the team were Bruce Bochte, Tino Martinez and Richie Sexson. I can't justify knocking off other players, though.
Then there is my personal favorites. The origional Mariner heros: Ruppert Jones, Julio Cruz and Enrique Romo. All Great, but not better than the ones I chose.
Where have you gone Ichiro?

I got sucked into Mariner's baseball in the early 90's, thanks to the emergence of Ken Griffey Jr. I was 9 or 10 years old when I switched from the A's (Big Mac, Canseco, Rickey Henderson...) to the Mariners.
Such is the reason you don't see many "old-timers" in the names below. Here's my team, based entirely on how much I rooted for each player.
1. Ichiro Suzuki, RF
2. Omar Vizquel, SS
3. Ken Griffey Jr., CF
4. Edgar Martinez, DH
5. Jay Buhner, LF
6. Bret Boone, 2B
7. John Olerud, 1B
8. Mike Blowers, 3B
9. Dan Wilson, C
