The Marlins are pretty hostile. There's one where a husband and wife are checking a pregnancy test, then the graphic shows up on the screen saying "Marlins vs. Expos". The guy sees that, and, instead of looking to see whether the test was positive or not, says, "they're going to kill 'em". Needless to say, the wife is not happy about that.

Weird!!! Guess you have to see the ad to appreciate the "humor."

Lol Nick. You watch marlins on FSN? We have that same commercial up here in WI but it lists brewers v. whoever.

Same here in Detroit...it is all a scam I guess.
But there is one where it is dark and smoky, and Kirk Gibson goes around banging on doors and says "let's go" and Lance Parrish and Juan Samuel walk out, and they all knock on Tram's door and ask "are you ready?" and Tram says, "Yea, let's do it." And they walk out to the top steps of the dugout and look with arms crossed into the crowd.
Dumb commercial, as the theme is "We come to play" or "We are ready to play" something like that.

We get those occasionally on FSN, I can't stand them. But we also have another ad campaign "Gotta See 'Em".
The most recent one features Torii Hunter. It starts out with footage of torii making diving catches and says "Torii Hunter's Fame as spread all the way to fargo- Fargo, Japan that is"
Then it shows a japanese anime comic book with robot-anime-style Torii Hunter, who's killing badguys and stuff, you hear a japanese guy say something in japanese with subtitles across the bottom saying "Torii Hunter is not human, he has the strengh of many men!".
Then it shows a pokemon card with the anime-style torii, named 'Toriipuff', abilities= 'Superleap'.
Then it does something else I can't remember... then it cuts to the "Minnesota Twins - Gotta See 'Em"

bah, red sox comercials aren't really that funny. Most of the NESN ones are just glorifying the players. When they're not doing that, they're showing annoying people like bob ryan and dan shougnessy (or however that butthole spells his name) talking smack about the boston bullpen (I thought they were trying to PROMOTE the sox...)
On UPN, though, they have "Sox in the City," a take-off of sex in the city. They had one where they were making fun of billy mueller's name (it's pronounced "miller") then they make some stupid sex in the city type pun and we're all suposed to laugh.

The funniest baseball commercial I have seen was made a few years ago by the Mariners when they were making a run at the all-time single season wins record, in 2001 I believe.
In the commercial, the 1908 Cubs are there to defend their all-time record and want to challenge the M's to a game. Seeing these really old guys run around the diamond was pretty funny. Clever stuff. Definitely the funniest commercial I have seen.

So it's an FSN thing, then... that makes more sense (considering that it is coming from the same people who run the Faux News Channel).

Speaking of the Marlins, they have also been criticized for showing this commercial where the Marlins players are using the opposing team's bobblehead dolls for batting practice (Mets & Braves). Mind you, as a Met fan, it doesn't bother me one bit.

haha, that's pretty good, but you'd have to be careful which teams you show, it'd make the marlins look pretty bad to show that commercial using the braves, and then have the braves come in and whoop 'em.
There's another twins one, that features Eddie Guardado. It starts off showing eddie striking out some guy then doing his fist pump. "After Eddie Guardado set the Twins record for Saves in a season, Eddie decided it was time to re-invent himself..."
It shows a cut from a movie with a guy tapdancing, eddie's face is pasted onto the guys face, then it shows a guy being shot out of a cannon, again with eddie's face pasted on. "He tried everything, but nothing seemed right...."
Then it cuts to a scene from riverdance or some guy irish-dancing, with eddies face pasted on, ".....although the riverdance came awful close"
(It's funnier if you can actually see it)

It was the 1906 Cubs, and it was 2002, after they won 116 games in 2001. It was a funny commercial.
All of the Mariners commercials are hilarious. Like the new home of the Mariners commercials. Komo 1000 radio broadcasts the games now, so to advertise it, they did these commercials as if the Mariners now live at Komo 1000. In one, Shigetoshi Hasegawa wakes up, walks into the bathroom and finds Arthur Rhodes. Rhodes asks, "Shiggy, you sleep ok?" And, in Japanese, he responds, "No, news, traffic, and weather..." Arthur goes, "I know every 15 minutes"

Didn't the M's have a commercial when Safeco first opened where one of the Mariners was driving to the ballpark and when he pulled in,he took out his garage door opener and opened up Safeco's roof?
I can't remember exactly if it was the Mariners or not.

Yep, that was the Mariners. The guy in the Mustang Convertable was Edgar Martinez. He had another funny one where he hooked up the lighting at Safeco to a Clapper. The game started and everyone was clapping and the lights kept going on and off.

I remember when the Yankees were still on MSG they had an ad campaign with fans around the city doing spelling out YANKEES with their hands a la YMCA. I even remember the stupid song they played during it. Y-A-N-K-E-E Yankees baseball on MSG.

Mariners commercials are usually pretty funny. You can watch this year's commercials here:

My favorite is the Jamie Moyer commercial "Tribute" with the big hair. Just poking fun at his age a little :laugh
My favorite all time is one several years ago where it shows Edgar Martinez teaching all the young Spanish-speaking players the local lingo (we have some funny-sounding words in western Washington):
Edgar: "Repeat after me: I took my geoduck to Puyallup."
Many players in broken English: "I took my geoduck to Puyallup."

Those Mariners commercials are pretty good. Wish the Giants' site had the commercials on them.
One FSN Bay Area commercial from a few years ago has stuck in my head. FSNBA produced it for both the Giants and the A's. The Giants one would go like this: three burglars break into a house. They are taking the silverware, the jewelry, and anything they want. But then one of them goes into a room and sees a mantle filled with Giants bobbleheads and memorabilia. He says, "Uh-oh," and calls the other two in there. They all stand there kind of stunned for a second, then they start putting the stuff back. The silverware is carefully replaced, as is the jewelry and anything else they took. And then they leave and it shows a note on the window that they broke that says, "Sorry about the window. Go Giants!"
I thought that was pretty good.

There was a great commerical for the Braves that TBS used to show -- haven't seen it so far this year.
The opening is an ominous voice which says "Two thirds of the surface of the earth is covered by water, " while the screen shows an view of the ocean. Then it cuts to a compilation of great catches by Andruw Jones, and the voiceover says "the other third is covered by...Andruw Jones."
I thought it was funny anyway ;)

I remember by 1998, by the time the Yanks won 114 games, its David Cone and he is at a dance club and sees a dance with a left knee high, and asks a lady at his side "whats this dance called?", and she answers "It's El Duque", and later a big screen appears with El Duque doing his usual pitching stance, and later Luis Sojo asks him "Hey Coney, why dont you have a dance?", and later appears I Love NY, those Adidas commercials, and at the end, Cone practice his pitching stance dance at the bathroom, and a guy dressed in latex leaves one of the cubicles of the bathroom, funny.

Red Sox commercials on NESN are quite cheesy. They have a bunch of fans talking about how great the team is. For example there is one guy on the street who says "Gonzalez and Loretter make a great double play combination". And a guy getting his hair cut and says "Put Wakefield out there and there unstopable". Or a girl saying "Papelbon is so intense on the mound!" and a whole bunch more stuff like that. They are sorta funny actually. :laugh
Also the Red Sox have ones were they have the players talk about how great one of the other players are. Like David Ortiz has a commerical and the players say how clutch he is.

The Phillies have like these commercials where it will show a clip, and then a screen with a saying like, I dont remember, but then it ends with Red means go. There's one that has a fan without a shirt, and its like Fan 1, Hot Dogs 0, or something like that.

There's a Twins commercial that parodies the mean Joe Greene commercial from the super bowl a while back. Instead of Joe throwing a jersey, he tears off his sideburns and slaps them on the kid.

There is one where Jeff Francoeur recieves a letter from a kid in Cophenhagen. ANd signs a ball for him and hits it all the way to Denmark. The kid catches it and runs off. Then Jeff Turns to grab a signed ball from one of many buckets with differents names of countries and continents on it.

The Jays have a couple of good ones. Troy Glaus is sitting at a table at a kids birthday party, and the kids are hitting a pinãta. They keep missing, and Troy looks more and more upset. Eventually, he stands up, grabs the bat and blasts the pinãta and starts a home run trot.
Another one, Roy Halladay is walking down the street, and stops to watch 3 kids. The kids are tossing rocks at a large bee's nest up in a tree, but they're not hitting it. Roy picks up a stone, tosses it a few times in his hand, and pegs the bee hive from across the street. The 3 kids start itching, and then run away in all different directions being chased by the bees.
Great commercials.

I've seen the Rangers and Astros using some same ones as well. One lately shows about 15 quickies where someone walks by someone else and nails 'em with a buttslap. After the last one you hear "Way to go Rangers(Astros)"
Another one plays off the throw-back-the-opponents-HR thing. With the background noise of the Astro game, you hear a homer call and a ball bounces to somebody walking down a street. They pick it up and heave it out of sight. This repeats until finally it flies back into Minute Maid Park.
A variation of that shows various fans in everyday places picking up something and throwing it against a wall or mirror, while listening to the game in the background; something about everyone helping throw somebody out.
These were humerous the first 4 or 5 times. After 100 showings, they're kinda lame.
