Brian Powell, who pitched in over 200 Minor League games from 1995-2005, died Monday in Tallahassee, Fla., from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to the Post-Searchlight of Bainbridge, Ga. Powell, 35, spent 11 seasons in the Minors with Detroit, Houston, San Francisco, Philadelphia and Washington, retiring in 2005 after a season at Triple-A.
He threw a no-hitter for the Triple-A New Orleans Zephyrs -- an Astros affiliate at the time -- on May 6, 2001 against Omaha, his first of three complete games that year.
