I figure if Jeter can get a thread in here for tying then passing up the franchise record for hits, Curtis Granderson can get one for tying the Tigers franchise record for lead off HRs 23. Long way for him to go to catch the all time leader Rickey Henderson, 81, then again Jeter has a ways to go to catch Rose.

This isn't quite as deserving of a thread, but to be completely honest neither topic deserved a thread in the first place.

I bet Granderson will be moved down the order in a few years, like Soriano. I think Henderson's MLB record is safe for a long time.

The creator of this topic does.

Not all of us are Yankees fans, and a great majority of us do not care that Jeter broke Gehrig's franchise record.

As is Jeter's record. He's not breaking any all-time records. He's breaking a franchise record. That franchise just happens to be the most covered baseball team in history because of the fact that there is a media bias towards, not only the Yankees, but Jeter as well.

This is twice now that you have disrespected other franchises.

The person who created this topic obviously cares about this franchise record, just as you cared about Jeter's.

Quite frankly, I do not care about this record, just as I don't care about Jeter's. And, for the record, if you can create two or three topics about Jeter breaking the record, this guy has just as much right to do it. And he doesn't need criticism and disrespect from you.

I think Ichiro may be the active leader in that department. He has like 35 or something.

Congrats to Granderson though, definitely!

Soriano is in 2nd all time right now. He passed Biggio earlier this year so he's the active leader.

Congrats to Granderson. Who did he pass? I cant think of any Tigers leadoff hitters off the top of my head.

Ichiro has 30, Soriano has 54.

Lou Whitaker long time lead off man and should be HOFer, especially when you compare his career numbers to Ryne Sandberg (they are almost freaking identical). Much like Whitaker it is likely Granderson will at some point be moved down in the line up. That is if the Tigers can track down at least the next Alex Sanchez to take over the vacant lead off spot, cause right now the Tigers have no one that can take that lead off spot with anything near MLB average production (except Granderson).

Yeah I didnt think of Whitaker as a lead off hitter, I seem to remember him being down as more of a 3 hitter, but then again its not like I watched a lot of Tigers games when he was still playing. I dont even know if he ever hit 3rd, just that he was older and hit for good average.
