What is with the Red Sox? How many players do they have on their roster, 49? They have traded for all these players, none of which are that great. Alex used to be there, before he came here and didnt fare very well so i'm confused by this. Also, my guess is the Reds get a PTBNL and it wont be anyone that great. Gonzo's value is nil.

Yep my thoughts exactly. We don't lose anything on this deal so maybe we'll get a decent PTBNL.

I'm trying to remember for how long I've wanted the Reds to trade Gonzalez to the Red Sox. They haven't had a decent SS in a while. I knew eventually they would go after Gonzalez, I think I asked for this Spring Training 2008 (I'll have to go through some very old posts).

Nice. Jan 08 would have been best time to trade him because i think it was just before his knee injury that kept him out for all of last year. Problem is - who is going to play short for the Reds next year. Janish obviously isnt the answer and up and comer Valaika has hit a wall in AAA, batting below .200.
