I am looking to compile a list of snapshot statistics. By that I am looking for a set of statistics for batters, a set of statistics for pitchers, and a (smaller?) set of statistics for fielders which can give the reader an idea of the quality of the player.

These statistics must be easily found or derived from common sources. Sabermetrics are OK, and stats like Win Shares are ok because I can find those. The stats should help fill out a player's hitting, fielding and when appropriate, their pitching ability. YOU tell me what to use.

I have an idea of where to begin, but I want your input. What should I add to OPS+, ERA+, Win Shares, (insert favorite fielding stat here), WHIP...?

I am willing to include stats like Extra Base Hits divided by total hits as another measure. Total Average is easy to compute and holds its meaning over time. Pitchers can include K/BB ratio. I am also looking for some sort of base running index.

Thanks in advance for your input.

Here are some stats I am considering:

Hitters/Fielders.......Pitchers
OPS+.............................................. ERA+
Hits per game....................................WHIP
Total Average....................................K/BB Ratio
Defensive WS per 154.........................Wins/Starts
Warp3............................................. Warp3

Those are good "rate" stats, now for some counting stats

Runs+RBI-HR...................................Wins
Total Bases......................................Saves
Net steals (per 154)..........................Runs Saved (expected ER minus actual ER)
Win Shares......................................Win Shares
Batting Runs....................................Strikeouts (per 30 g)

What are some of your favorite Snapshot Stats?

I often reply to my own posts. Just like quoting myself at parties, it adds spice to the conversation.
