So far not one single player from the 2005 draft has played for a major league team. The Cubs with their first 4 picks chose pitchers and all 4 have struggled with the first three picks no longer in the Cubs organization. Not a single player looks like they are anything special with quite a few of the players already out of organized baseball.

Are you speaking of just the Cubs' selections? Because I was under the impression the 2005 draft was pretty good for a lot of teams.

Personally, I still feel that he 2002 draft, Hendry's last official draft, was the worst of franchise history. The 2005 draft was a bunch of hype in the early parts of the draft yet none turned out. It's just the same as 2003 (outside of 3rd rounder Fox's 09 season, Marshall in the sixth round and Casey MacGhee in the 10th) was and 2004 (where 8th round talent Eric Patterson and 12th rounder Sean Gallagher were our top talents out); it is the reason why we got rid of former scouting director John Stockstill, who's now in Baltimore heading up a higher ranking job. Of course Stockstill's excuse was that Jim Hendry, his prior Scouting Director turned GM, never gave him full ranking and executing of prospects in the draft or international. Even while Henry was behind the curtain, he still called the shots. Even with the club's addition of super scout Tim Wilken in 2005, Hendry has continually micro-managed the ballclub. He still deems himself in charge of international scouting, future Cape Cod prospects, High School prospects. along with managing his clubs' 40 man. Jim is trying to do too much for too long and it will cost him his job if not this year but the year after even if he gets an extension.
