If you didn't get a chance to hear the Mike Francessa show yesterday, please listen to the full interview. He is talking to Charles Wang, owner of the New York Islanders of the NHL. Wang is trying to get a new arena and financing for a large project. Kansas City which has just built a brand new facility and has no teams to use it are trying to lure Wang to Kansas City. I thought I was listening to Walter O'Malley in 1957 again. I hope it's allright with posting this here. For those who weren't around in 1957, this is what O'Malley sounded like.

Let's Go Mets!

I heard it yesterday, and yes, he did remind me of the Big O. Except Wang has lost some big money, which of course Walter never did. Too bad Francesa didn't press him more, though.

But back in the 50's Walter had everyone believing he was in dire strates.
