Does this promotes using your hands more than your body when swinging a bat?

It all depends on how you cue the batter. It would proly promote an uppercut swing. It can promote a long swing, but can be short. Can promote arm bar. One of the girls has terrible bad drag. It depends how you use it.

I built myself one.

I'm not sure if it is a good tool, but it does train some things. You must be very quick and can't allow any form of bat drag or long swing or the ball will hit the ground before you are there.

A problem with this device is that you can hardly have any load or you will be late. It just promotes a short, quick swing, without much power. You need good reflexes(if you use the harder setting).

Joe Mauer said that he used it exessively in his youth(father invented it). Don't know if this is just promotion, but it would explain why mauer loads very little(less than almost any other pro-his hands don't move back like other hitters).

This might giver him a quicker swing, but might also cost him power and batspeed. He was always an average hitter, despite his big frame(until this year whatever happened...).

anybody can swing at the ball, but it takes technique to make your swing faster, have to see DvD to see what he teaches. I am sure he may know how to make you swing faster being in the mlb. Remember he is on his own training program.

imho,

He said this year he's using more of a rotational hitting, that is why he is hitting for more power. I wonder if he still using it.

Where did he say this? Do you have the interview?

Isn't this just the equivalent of having somebody drop balls and make you swing?
