By far the single best part of the Royals season for me, screw Zack Greinke! Now I can begin to take my front office seriously again!

Royals DFA Tony Pena Jr.

MLB.com's Dick Kaegel (http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20090716&content_id=5896282&vkey=news_kc&fext=.jsp&c_id=kc&partnerId=rss_kc) reports that the Royals have designated shortstop Tony Pena Jr. for assignment to make room on the roster for the recently acquired Yuniesky Betancourt. Pena has hit just .156-.178-.192 in 288 plate appearances since the start of the 2008 season.

Oh, foolish boy. Those goobers of ours will simply sign him to a minor league deal after every team in the game passes on him.

He cleared waivers and is now headed to Surprise to work on becoming a Pitcher. Yes folks you heard me right, the Royals are trying to convert TPJ into a PITCHER!!!

Oh c'mon, he's got a pretty decent breaking pitch, it's worth a try for an otherwise lost cause.

Wow. I somehow missed this little story. I'd say unbelievable, but this is too funny NOT to be true. I try to remain optimistic about the organization's decisions, but it gets harder and harder the more things they come up with. It will certainly be interesting I guess.

He can't be any worse on the mound than he was at the plate.

Wait..

If there was only a way to change your batting line into your batting line AGAINST... then Tony Pena Jr. would be the next coming of Walter Johnson.
