My son's newest passion is catching which is fine, I caught all through little league. Last night he used some gear that had velcro shin guards & chest protector which I thought was easy for the kids. Has anyone used that type of equip & how well does it hold up, not sure what brand it was we borrowed the other teams. How does all star brand stack up to some of the easton stealth stuff, I am talking about 9-12 size gear Thanks

My son is 11 and he has the Easton Stealth shin guards and chest protector. They use the hook closure, not velcro. Easy to get on and off and they have held up well. We ordered them from baseball express which has lots of options for youth catching equipment, mitts etc.

All-Star and Easton are certainly the most popular brands I see through out the year. Both are good quality.
The problem I see with the velcro gear is when the Velcro gets dirt lodged in it it starts to not hold tight.
Need to brush both sides of the velcro with a firm brush ocaisionly to get the dirt out.

Thanks sir that's what i was kinda thinking, easy when new but won't work at all when dirty. I also like the stealth stuff cuz looking like a stormtrooper is important to a 10 yr old:D

Do 10 year olds know what a Storm Trooper is?

You are kidding me correct?? Even my 7 year old little girl loves all 6 star wars movies. They also have a new cartoon which is pretty hi tech but i think it's mostly clone troopers

My son uses Easton. Our rec ball league stuff had the velcro didn't hold after a few weeks. Make sure to git him a good glove. We like the Akadema praying mantis. Good thumb protection.

Thanks, I went with some all star helmet & chin guards & mizzuno protector & mitt. I didn't trust the velcro. Really liked the easton stuff but for what i nd it for i was just looking for a good deal on some gear. Got it from baseball savings...Funny though i hadn't shown him this thread or even told him about it but when i showed him the cool easton stealth chest protector in black in silver he said COOL i will look like a stormtrooper, i guess i know my kid
