Why did the Dodgers wear the word "Brooklyn" across their road jerseys only for 7 summers? Why did they switch to "Dodgers" in 1946? Did the Brooklyn Eagle complain about this?

Which road jersey do you prefer?

Which road jersey do you prefer?
Unquestionably, the "Brooklyn" road uniform.
I prefer that teams on the road, wear the name of the city they represent.

I got those same jerseys. The one on the left Dolph Camilli's 1945 road uni by Mitchell and Ness. I assume the one on the right is Jackie's 1955 road uni by Mitchell and Ness?

Correct and correct. I love 'em both don't you? When I wear them (which is often), old guys (and ladies too!) start conversations constantly.

A sign of things to come maybe? Stage one: take any evidence of Brooklyn off of uniforms. Stage two: Move team quietly and claim that they were never really in Brooklyn to begin with.
Maybe not.
Anyway, I think the first one is nice, but that dodgers wordmark is unparralelled in any sport, hard to beat anything sporting that jem.

I envy you. I'm not a Brooklyn baseball fanatic at all, but a collection like that would appeal to any baseball fan. That last one there is great by the way. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks. I collect ALL old baseball "stuff", but about 80% of it is Brooklyn Dodger stuff.

I'd like to see the Dodgers unis from way back circa 1900-1920. Those high-collared ones with the laces at the neck, a little like rugby shirts, I like that retro look.

How about a Dodger uniform without the "s"??? Yes, this is a real photo from 1935.

This ranks right up there as one of the greatest Brooklyn (Superbas) jerseys of all-time (IMHO). I wish Mitchell & Ness would produce this baby!

I love the BROOKLYN font on the Royal Giants version. It looks cold and intimidating.

Here's the Federal League uniform and cap. The Brooklyn Tip-Tops played at Washington Park in both 1914 and 1915. The millionaire who owned the Tip-Top bread company also owned the Brooklyn ballclub.
