Expired attachments?

I've found that some attachments I've included in posts from last year seem to be no longer there, just a ? or X. For example:

http://www.baseball-fever.com/showpost.php?p=1261210&postcount=30


Do they expire? Is there a way to retrieve them and link to them as a .jpg instead so it doesn't happen again?

I see the pics just fine. Candlestick park pics from newspapers.
